How U Clip Nuts Work and Why They’re Used?

U clip nuts are spring-steel fasteners formed in a U shape, with a threaded impression on one leg. When the clip is pushed over the edge of a panel or into a slot, the two legs clamp tightly onto the material. A screw is then driven through the mating component and into the thread, creating a strong, self-retaining fastening point.

Compared with loose nuts or welded nuts, U clip nuts enable single-sided assembly, compensate for panel and tolerance variations, and eliminate additional operations such as welding, tapping or riveting.
